As a media relations director at BLASTmedia, you will serve as a strategic expert and results generator on accounts while staying on the leading edge of new tactics, strategies and the evolving media landscape. MRDs forge media relationships, drive national, trade and local coverage and interest across the team’s B2B SaaS clients and consult with clients and teammates on strategy. MRDs are agency leadership team members, engaging in agency culture, consulting on major initiatives, contributing to agency thought leadership and training team members.
Job Location: Remote or Hybrid in Indianapolis

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
- Execute media relations campaigns to secure earned press coverage, including pitching trade and national media
- Develop relationships with clients by participating in client calls, advising on media opportunities, and participating in story mining with spokespeople to develop thought leadership angles
- Write press releases, quotes, and media Q&As
- Lead team and agency-level training sessions on media relations-related topics
- Work with an account team to develop PR plans to support client's business objectives and key results (OKRs)
- Participate in team leadership meetings and proactively contribute to client strategy and brainstorm
- Participate in agency leadership meetings, contributing insights into processes and tools the agency uses
- Engage in agency culture through mentoring and team relationship-building
- Research and monitor media for new client opportunities, reacting when appropriate
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 5+ years of prior work experience in PR and/or media relations
- Understanding of the PR process and the news media
- A proven track record of securing earned media coverage
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience working efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a command of grammar and AP style
- A passion for storytelling and asking questions
- The ability to meet deadlines
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT
- Experience working at or on behalf of a SaaS or other B2B technology brand
- Examples of press coverage you’ve secured in B2B trade media and national media
- Experience ghostwriting on behalf of executives
- Agency or marketing department experience
